Installing Chromium (Google Chrome for Ubuntu) on Karmic Koala

I followed these steps to install Google Chrome (Chromium) on Ubuntu without using the terminal command window:

(This is also an example of finding and installing any software if you know the path for the package repositories)

Select Synaptic Package Manager:

Select Settings> Packages:

Go to "Other Software" tab:

Add these lines one by one:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu karmic main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/chromium-daily/ppa/ubuntu karmic main

Press on Reload after adding the repositories:

Type chromium in search box and then select chromium-browser:

Add the required packages too:

Press on "Apply":

Press on Apply:

Enjoy your newly installed software:

Face to face interaction to help troubleshoot ubuntu issues

I just can not understand as to why people would buy windows when all that they do is just check email, news, write documents on word, sometimes as DVD player, store their photos from digital camera. Ubuntu would do all of the above really well and all of them for free!

I think the biggest reason for people still going for windows is that they think if they have an issue with their computer they can not find anyone to help them. I think one way to help these people out is to setup ubuntu troubleshooting network. Some face to face interaction would help. Why not set up a group of volunteers that would sit in front of a store or mall and give out free CDs and also let them know that if they wanted it installed they could even bring their laptops over and the volunteers could install Ubuntu.

Karmic Koala ready for masses

Karmic Koala is very pleasant. I love the new "Ubuntu Software Center" right in the applications menu. Now anyone can just find an interesting application and install them right away without having to type in any sort of command. I think this version of Ubuntu is now ready for linux novices (for that matter anyone new to any computer - including seniors).

Seems like the media is also talking a lot about Ubuntu:

BBC on Ubuntu 9.10
The Hindu on how easy it is to install/uninstall programs
